Palmer Ranch is a large master planned community of neighborhoods on over 10,000 acres located in Sarasota, Florida. It has become one of the most popular areas of Sarasota to live because of its very well planned out neighborhoods, location to many conveniences, and the diversity of housing styles from maintenance free condos to million dollar estates. Palmer Ranch is home to over 20 different neighborhoods. If you have ever considered living in Sarasota perhaps looking at what Palmer Ranch has to offer may be a very good first step. The history of what today is called Palmer Ranch goes back to 1900 when a wealthy socialite business woman from Chicago by the name of Bertha Honore Palmer fell in love with sunny Sarasota and purchased this very large tract of rural Florida land to be used for growing oranges and farming cattle. Palmer Ranch is bordered on the north side by Clark Road, by the east with Honore Ave, and to the west by route 41 also known as South Tamiami Trail, with the south end of Palmer Ranch blending into The Oaks Golf Country Club on route 41 heading toward Nokomis, which is the area where Mrs. Palmer had her home. The community of Palmer Ranch appeals to many different people whether you are a snow bird and would like to have a second home in sunny Sarasota, or if you are retiring to the south to live full-time, or if you are looking to raise a young family in an active fun family oriented area of Sarasota. Even though you will still see some cows in the fields in the Palmer Ranch outer areas, today Palmer Ranch is home to over 20 different planned neighborhoods and communities with business and recreation facilities throughout the Palmer Ranch area. The three prominent gated golf communities in Palmer Ranch are prestigious TPC Prestancia, which has two 18 hole championship golf courses, Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club which has an 18 hole, 72 par Arthur Hills designed course. and The Oaks Club with two 18 hole courses. Palmer Ranch and the Palmer Ranch neighborhoods have been very well planned for recreation and walking trails. Many of the Palmer Ranch neighborhoods have their own trails and all have sidewalks. In the center of Palmer Ranch is the “Legacy Trail”. This is an old retired section of railroad track that has been removed and graded to have a 12 foot wide paved walking/bike path starting in Palmer Ranch and running down into Venice. Bring your camera for some great bird pictures and pictures of the water from on top of the bridges that go over the Intracoastal/Sarasota Bay waters. Palmer Ranch is minutes from Westfield Sarasota Square Mall, numerous restaurants, and only 15 minutes from famous Siesta Beach! "Kathy was awesome as our realtor. I have dealt with many realtors, but none as advanced and hands on with the showings. During the showings she had pointed out the flaws with the homes for us to make an educated decision. She had guided us on the different areas that would best fit our needs. Most realtors are all about the sale, but my experience with her was the exception. She went the extra mile to make sure the home you were looking for met your needs and did not push you into a home that might not be right for you.The response time was incredible, she guaranteed a phone call or answer to any question same day. Her customer service was incredible and would recommend to all of our friends and family. I have dealt with many realtors in my profession but none as as caring, knowledgeable, or efficient as her. Kathy's referrals for the inspector and mortgage process was outstanding. I would not hesitate to look forward to anyone else going forward. Best Regards, Jim Glowniak "
