Sarasota came in at 34th place in the ranking of the country's 125 largest metropolitan areas. The city ranked second in Florida, following Palm Bay-Melbourne at No. 29.
Other Florida cities on the list included: Fort Myers (No. 41); Lakeland (No. 71); Tampa (No. 75); Orlando (No. 78) and Miami (No. 110).
