10 THINGS NOT TO DO WHEN FINANCING A HOME• Do Not: transfer money between accounts, unless you are receiving complete documentation from your bank • Do Not: M.ke unnecessary checking or savings account transactions, such as withdrawals or deposits • Do Not: leave an existing job • Do Not: allow your bank accounts to go into a negative balance, even if you have overdraft protection • Do Not: Co-sign any debt with anyone • Do Not: ask a tenant to move out, or give you landlord notice that you are moving out • Do Not: Delay paying all debts on time • Do Not: Pay a bill in collections. If about to pay a bill in collections from a collection agency, try to pay it at closing. • Do Not: Apply for credit in any form, including credit for major purchases or apply for credit to consolidate or change existing credit • Do Not: have a friend or family member pay for anything related to the purchase of the home. Gifts are allowed only under certain guidelines.
